This is looking aft from the bilge. There are two, what looks to be, 2x4's covered in packaging laying in the belly of my 250. They look almost like someone was smuggling cocaine in the bilge lol. Too much tv I know. But they don't seem to serve any purpose. If they were touching the top of the liner I'd guess they were support of some kind but also why the sloppy packaging.

Jeremy,
Maybe the previous owner thought the floor flexed when using the stairs.

Jeremy,

First thought, they look like spacers from the Catalina factory when they drop the cabin liner onto the hull.

Second thought, the previous owner installed them because the floor squeaked or flexed.

What is above that spot on the floor?
Is it installed below the stairs?

Yes it's approx below the stairs.

Perhaps this is the real reason WK's seem to sit lower in the back...botched smuggling job.

At first I thought I'd just leave them be, you know, if it ain't broke... but now I'm getting more curious. When I tried to move one the day I discovered them, it wouldn't move. It sort of looks glassed in, if a kindergartner tried glassing. Maybe I just need a hammer....

If I do get them out I'll post an update. Today I was busy with a flooding toilet due to a year old joker valve giving up. Those things are aptly named. BTW, I decided to use a raritan joker valve in my jabsco because some people report it being better and lasting longer. Fingers crossed, I don't want to do that every year.

If you find a couple of kilos, I guess you’ll be on the new Catalina 54 forum.

First guess wins! They look like they have been there for a long time though. Found someone's old beer bottle in mine. I wonder if they put them there in for temporary support and forgot to take them out. that said though, why cover them? I think you should get them out and give us a report on what's inside. :- )

I’ll go with your first guess. The packaging? From a 3rd tier cartel.
