My 2008 250 doesn't have the cockpit coaming compartments I see on the rest of the boats. Did Catalina stop putting them on the boats by 2008? Are the compartments back there, but the cutouts just not done on the sides? Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

Dan,

Thanks for the update.
Does anyone with a C250 with hull over 1,500 help with this photo?

Right on all counts. You're right it would be above this rectangle. The question began with - did Catalina make the hull mold with the box back in there, and just not do the cutout. I guess now the answer is no, by this hull # they had taken away the box itself, or it was an add-on when requested. The few images I've seen of these later C250s don't have the coaming boxes.

So, that answers my original question: No box is hidden in behind the side of the cockpit.

Thanks

Dan

Dan,

Please confirm my understanding is correct.
Your photo is taken from behind the aft bulkhead, looking forward on the starboard side.

I don't know what the object is in the center of the photo with the bolt extending aft.
This appears to be above the aft bulkhead.
Is there any access near the galley countertop for storage?

The top-left appears to be the underside of the cockpit.
The top-center appears to be the underside of the coaming.
If you were to install a coaming box, it would be in that open area under the top coaming.
That's a guess, judging from just one photo.

Dan,

I think I have the answer. I believe you have a C250-Mark-II

Do you have opening port holes in both the head and main cabin?
What is your hull number, is it near 1,000?
Do you have an open transom or closed transom?

Catalina Yachts made some design changes when they moved C250 production from California to Florida.
You may have one of the last C250 models built.

You can also send me some photos too.
Thanks, Russ

This boat has the opening ports you describe, open transom, it's hull #1708. The system won't let me post images (even though I'm signed up as a member.[img]

You can check if you have them, but are glassed over, by removing the inside bulkhead in the stern and sticking your head up there and looking forward. That was the case with my 1995 C250. They were there but hadn’t been cut out. I cut them out and used the coaming compartment trim rings I got from Catalina Direct. Having coaming compartments in the cockpit is awesome.

Coaming compartments were extra-cost options with a new C25 and were probably also optional with a new C250. I think they can be bought through Catalina Direct.
