I finally got the boat onto the mooring. Standing back, the mooring line looks kind of long, has me wondering if there are best practices or rules of thumb for how long (or short) the line should be?

Also, wondering how much Clorox to add to the ballast tanks. The boat will be in the water until the end of October. A few ounces? A cup?

One cup it is. I think I might add a few ounces at the first of each month.

Use the vent hole located in the anchor locker. Make sure you wash it down with clean water We use a cup of bleach for a full tank of water...

How do you put the Clorox into the ballast tank? I do not see any inlet or plug...

I look forward to responses about cleaning the ballast tank, as it may help with my freshwater tank and system; I've got mold coming out of the plumbing now, and best guess is to add some amount of chlorine and flush it out after some time.

As for mooring lines, the general rules I was told were to keep them short enough to limit the movement of the boat into anything that could be damaged or cause damage, e.g., other boats, the dock, pilings, etc. However, the lines should have enough slack that if the boat is at rest and not moving, there is no tension on the line.
