any idea to buy or make steps to fit on the swim ladder (round) rungs. The round steps kinda hard on bare feet

I made wood slats some years ago - they have served well. I recall it was not super easy to drill through the stainless 8 times, but I was younger then.

John, I think I know what you have. My PO had them on my boat. They are made by and called C.Sherman Johnson Sole Mate Ladder Tread. I was going to mention them until I found out they were $24.99 for one at West Marine. Ouch. The four would be more $$ than the much nicer original equipment ones from CD. The CD kit gives you a drill that cuts through the tubing like butter and stainless rivets. The only thing you need is a pop rivet gun so buy,borrow or steal one. They are not expensive. Mine are half the rung so one left one right etc. and they are not drilled through but use a SS pipe saddle that screws into the rung pad. Sorry don't know the manufacturer but have had some luck searching for "Replacement Ladder Rung Steps".

The CD kit includes pop-rivets and, it appears, a drill bit. The hardest part of the installation will be drilling holes in the SS tubes. If I were doing my own steps, I think I'd cut them out of 3/4" non-skid Starboard from Defender, with indents so they fit halfway around each side tube (to prevent turning) and attach them with SS straps, nuts and bolts.

Scott, you’ve always got the best stuff on Impulse. It might also be possible to fashion wooden slats for the steps with cutouts to hook into the down tubes. Bolting them in could be a trick.

Catalina Direct sells a kit for the ladder steps. I felt the pain also so I installed the kit. I took it one step further and added a fold down step to the ladder.https://www.catalinadirect.com/shop-by-boat/capri-22/hull-deck/stern/swim-ladder/ladder-step-pad-kit/
