Well I finally got around to replacing my shabby transom trim. CD says that it is a trim to fit part. Not a problem until I lined it up on the transom. You would think that it would be close with enough material to trim down. Nope. As you can see the part that is suppose to cover the rub rail end cap is not wide enough nor does it line up with the end cap. The only choice is to cut it off entirely and is what I ended up doing. It still looks better than my crumbling original. Anybody else replace this trim? If so how did it work for you?

Nasty old trim

End cap cover too small and mismatch

End result

I replaced the rim when I got Limerick in 06 the trim still looks pretty good, but was thinking of replacing with the "new and improved" UV resistant version as Scott has done so well.

I tossed my old one and never looked back.

Worth it to make the stern look good.

Exactly, It's the view the competition will see, Right?

I was thinking that I could just paint it up with some GelCoat or two-part Polyurethane paint. The $43 trim piece is a heckova lot easier and less costly in the long run.

Nice job trimming it.
I replaced mine ages ago and the new piece didn't have the molded bump outs but was too long. A post on the forum advised just trimming it and it has been fine for years.
I guess all replacements will need trimming. Worth it to make the stern look good.

Scott - Despite the fit issues, you did a great job trimming it to fit. Great job !

That's because I removed the frame and filled the holes--the vinyl was badly deteriorated and Passage looked better without it. I didn't buy CD's because at that time they were the same thin vinyl (?) as the originals. I couldn't justify a thin piece of Starboard big enough to make a one-piece frame that would fit under the rudder (now about $42).

Here's the link for the transom trim. After reading the description again I answered my own question. It states that the trim was also used on the 22 and the cups fit them. On the 25 you cut them off. My bad.https://www.catalinadirect.com/shop-by-boat/capri-22/hull-deck/stern/transom-trimimproved-uv-resistant/
Bruce, Possible yours is just missing having disintegrated before you got the boat.

Wow Scott, nice upgrade!! While the piece didn’t exactly fit, you made the most out of it. Thinking about that detail on Passage I’m not 100% sure that there is a cover on mine. And right there the gel coat is a little thin in spots. I was never certain what the solution was to improving the look. Kindly share the link from CD.
