Reading through this thread I began to wonder how often do you rebed hardware. No leaks seems snug but is there a rule of thumb?

Ray, as I’ve been re-bedding my deck hardware (stanchions and upper shroud chainplates) recently I think the name says it all: Upper Shroud Chainplates.
These are “real” chainplates.
I’ve been looking at the lower shroud chainplates. They looked like special eye bolts with a HUGE backing plate to me. During my inspection I did not see any corrosion, drips or signs of leaking so I decided to leave them alone.

Ahhhh I'm in luck the weather is supposto clear Saturday so I may get to fix both the mast lighting wiring connection and possibly the new chainplates I bought from CD.

I don't know why they call them chainplates if they send me 4 for apparently only the lower shrouds...

They are 4 bolts that go through the deck to hold the midstay rigging.

The babybacks

the lower shrouds

What do they call the deck plates or bolts that hold the upper shrouds?

You all know the word boat is simply an acronym for "Break Out Another Thousand".

Ray, very glad to hear that you’re back to health, the most precious commodity!
The great thing about working on your boat is it gives you a great excuse to curse loudly and frequently!
Enjoy it and sailing to the max!

If it ain’t one thing, it’s two.

Actually I’ve spent all last year on health problems that came out well so I’m happy to work on the health of LeeKey. It is so great to be back out working on the boat and of course ... Sailing!!
