Hey all,

Just repainted my deck and I'm wondering which orientation these pieces are designed to swing, Port/Starboard or Forward/Aft? There are 4 of them and they support the mast. I'd like to know before sealing them with 5200. Thanks!

My chain plates,Not that toggle that is attached to your chain plates all are aligned/pointing toward the mast.

Basically port-starboard to align with the angles of the lower shrouds up to the mast. But do you have a choice?

Drew - hard to tell from the picture, quick reply here;...but aren't those the chain plate holes for the mast support? I think they point to the mast..ie up because they will be under tension holding up the mast.

Use butyl tape to seal them, not 5200.
